Stephen Amell Says WB 'Killed' a Potential Arrow Spinoff Feature Film
In a recent appearance on Michael Rosenbaum's podcast Inside of You, Stephen Amell revealed WB executives 'killed' an idea for an Arrow movie.
The synopsis for Underbelly continues, "A tragic accident sets off a chain of events involving international drug trafficking, and Henry faces the concerns of his police chief father-in-law (Van Helsing's Christopher Heyerdahl), and suspicions from rival officer Erica Ross (Reservation Dogs' Tamara Podemski). As Henry digs deeper, he uncovers unexpected ties between the crime, his friend’s daughter Ruby (Katia Edith Wood), and her partner Miles (Jeremy Watson), pulling him further into the chaos. Henry must confront his friend’s betrayals as they face an epic, life-changing showdown."
Production is currently underway on the six-part series, which is being produced by Shaftesbury in partnership with Crave. Global film and TV studio Fifth Season is co-financing and handling international rights. "Underbelly is the perfect addition to Crave’s ever-growing slate of originals," said Justin Stockman, Vice President of Content Development and Programming for Bell Media. "With exceptional creative vision from Graeme Stewart, Aaron Martin, and Robert Budreau, and rich, multi-dimensional characters, the series delivers a gripping narrative that we know will resonate deeply with all audiences."

Stephen Amell Had an Unforgettable Role in This Hit Sitcom Just Before Arrow
Stephen Amell is better known for his iconic role in Arrow but he played a crucial part in a well-known sitcom just before joining the CW series.
Stephen Amell Is a TV Veteran
While Amell has dipped his toes into the film side of Hollywood, appearing in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows and the Code 8 franchise, he is mostly known as a television actor, with his breakout role being Oliver Queen/Green Arrow in The CW's Arrow (and wider Arrowverse). Following the conclusion of Arrow, Amell played Jack Spade in the Starz wrestling drama Heels, which ran for two seasons from 2021 to 2023. After losing out on the role of young Gibbs in NCIS: Origins, Amell was cast as Ted Black in the hotly-anticipated standalone Suits spinoff series, Suits: L.A., which is set at a law firm specializing in criminal and entertainment law.
Amell's Ted Black is a former federal prosecutor from New York who has reinvented himself by representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His character has also been described as "a charismatic force of nature who puts his own needs above others." Joining Amell as series regulars in Suits: L.A. are Josh McDermitt (The Walking Dead) as Ted Black’s long-time friend Stuart Lane, Lex Scott Davis (The First Purge) as strong-willed rising young lawyer Erica Rollins, Troy Winbush (9-1-1) as private detective Kevin, and Alice Lee (My Adventures with Superman) as young associate attorney Leah.
Underbelly premieres on Crave in 2025.
